EXECUTIVE PROFILE

Louis Wm. Barnett is a native Californian, born in Long Beach and raised in the San Fernando Valley.

A nationally known conservative activist, Mr. Barnett was a co-founder of the American Legislative Exchange Council, the bipartisan national organization of conservative state legislators.  He served as Political Director of the American Conservative Union (ACU) and as National Political Director of Ronald Reagan’s Political Action Committee (Citizens for the Republic).

He helped re-launch the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in 1983 and founded the California Conservative Union.

He has worked at local, state and federal levels of government and also in the private sector.  His political activity includes managing local school board candidates, state legislative races as well as working on gubernatorial and presidential campaigns.

Conceiving an initiative which allowed voters in both Montana and California to call for a National Balance Budget Amendment to the US Constitution his plan was halted by liberal State Supreme Courts.  He was successful in California in helping to craft and pass the California Civil Rights Initiative that banned race and sex considerations in college admissions, hiring and contracting by government in California.

Barnett has lectured on politics throughout the Americas including Canada and Central and South America, served as a Commissioner of the CA State Senate Advisory Commission on Cost Control in State Government, Chaired the Plenary Session of White House Conference on Libraries & Information Services, tested into MENSA, and was a Pacific Research Institute Award Winner in 1994 for a low income housing proposal.

He currently serves as a Board Member of Yorktown University, the first accredited online conservative institution.
